Universal Design

Universal design refers to broad-spectrum ideas meant to produce buildings, products and environments that are inherently more accessible, comfortable and usable for all, especially those with age related challenges.

CSV has gone to great lengths to ensure that our homes are the most attractive, functional and enjoyable homes.  We have also designed for the potential long term requirements of most residents.  By subtly including the aspects of “Universal Design,” and other features, residents will have accessibility enabling them to Live in Place Longer in our handicapped friendly environment.

These features will include:

  • Bungalow – one floor living
  • Indoor accessibility through the garage
  • Wide doors and hallways
  • Lever handles on taps and doors
  • Lower light switches and raised receptacles
  • Grab bars, or for future installation, 2 x 10 inch backing where grab bars would be required
  • Raised and elongated toilets for comfort
  • Roll in shower in the ensuite.

Beyond the homes, the community is designed to be walking friendly with a minimum of transitions for the comfort of all, but especially to permit those with walking concerns, scooters and wheelchairs easier access throughout the development.

The Clubhouse will also be accessible from both levels and designed to meet the changing needs of our residents.
